Seven things to check before posting a video with subtitles removed
Watching the result once is usually enough, but leftover letters tend to hide in very short moments. Finding them after posting means uploading again, so go through these seven checks in order before you download. All of them can be done on the result screen in the workspace.
1. Watch it once at normal speed
Start by watching the whole result at normal speed. If you see letters left behind, smeared spots or flicker, note the time. On the first watch, look at the overall impression rather than the details.
2. Compare with the original side by side
Press the Side-by-side slider above the result: the original shows on the left of the middle bar and the result on the right. Move the bar across the subtitle position and you can see at a glance that only the subtitles are gone and the picture around them is unchanged.
3. Pause where the subtitles change
Traces are most often left on the first frame where a subtitle appears, the last frame before it disappears, and the moment it changes to the next sentence. Pause there and step a few frames with the −0.01 s / +0.01 s buttons. For captions that fade in or type letter by letter, see also removing animated captions.
4. Read the Leftover subtitle check
When processing finishes, the Leftover subtitle check appears below the result. It lists the times and places where letters may remain; click them to look for yourself. Even when it reports nothing suspicious, do check 3 as well: very faint letters can slip past it.
5. Near faces, hands and moving objects
Where a subtitle covered a face, a hand or a fast-moving object, the AI has drawn that area again from its surroundings. It usually looks natural, but a face that was heavily covered can look slightly different from the original. For important scenes, zoom in on that spot once more.
6. Sound and length
The result should have the same length and sound as the original. Listen to the start and the end, and check in one scene that speech and lips match. If the length differs or the sound is missing, see the troubleshooting guide.
7. Watch it on the screen people will use
Most Shorts and Reels are watched on phones. Something visible on a large computer screen may vanish on a phone, and some traces only show at phone brightness. Play the result on a phone once. Sending to your phone explains how to move it there.
If you find something to fix
- A frame or two: at that position, use Touch up this frame with the brush to paint what is left, then press Re-restore selected range.
- The same letters across many frames: widen the area slightly or extend the start and end, then process again.
- Quality looks worse after posting: the platform compresses every upload again. See keeping quality when you upload.
When you are done, save it with Download video. Only post videos with subtitles removed if you made them or have permission.
Try it on your own video. Nothing to install, nothing uploaded.
